Fire Safety Assessments

Engineered Fire Accreditation

ESGA are professional fire safety consultants, with an engineering background.

Our highly professional Accreditor Assessor provides Annual Fire Safety Assessments for building owners, to ensure their properties meet the legislated requirements under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act & Regulations.

ESGA Accredited Assessors (Fire Safety) supply inspections according to fire safety measures installed to performance and building standards at the applicable time of build.

Fire Safety Assessment.

A Fire Safety Assessment is an assessment carried out by an accredited Fire Safety Assessor (FSA) with the Fire Protection Agency (FPA). This extra step in the annual certification process was legislated on July 1st 2020.

This assessment is based around the schedule of Essential Fire Safety Measures (EFSM’s) found on your building / properties Occupation Certificate and ongoing with the annual reminder for submission of Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) from your relevant council authority.

The FSA will assess the individual Essential Fire Safety Measures (EFSM’s) to their minimum standards of performance. This is to ensure the installed measures comply to their installed standards of the time.

Example of Schedule of Essential Fire Safety Measures:

Fire Saftey Measure Minimum Standard Of Performance
Emergency lighting BCA Clauses E4.2, E4.4 & AS2293.1-1998
Exit signs BCA Clauses E4.5, NSWE4.6, E4.8 & AS2293.1-1998
Fire doors BCA Spec. C3.4 & AS1905.1-1997
Fire hydrant systems BCA Clause E1.3 & AS2419.1-1994
Hose reel system BCA Clause E1.4 & AS2441-1998
Portable fire extinguishers BCA Clause E1.6 & AS2441-1995 & 2001

Fire Safety Assessment.

An Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) is essentially an annual registration for your property as you would with your motor vehicle. This is to ensure that the Essential Fire Safety Measures (EFSM’s) have been maintained to the relevant standards, assessed to actually work as designed to the relevant building codes and standards and have been checked off by an annual assessment by a competent fire safety practitioner.
